Whilst recent years haven’t been kind to Arsenal in terms of winning silverware, the club have always had a stellar record of promoting and developing youth players. Arsene Wenger has always taken a sense of pride in making young players world-beaters, and even today the club is seen as a youth-friendly one.
The current Arsenal youth side in Division 1 of the Premier League 2 are sat in fourth in the new tournament, largely due to the fact that there has always been a focus on ensuring youth development. One of their top prospects is Ismaël Bennacer, a 19-year old who’s already made his senior debut for Algeria.
During a recent game against Derby County U-23s, the Algerian showed a glimpse of his scary potential. Collecting the ball on his chest in midfield, he fizzed a long through ball that managed to evade the entire defence straight into the path of Savvas Mourgos, who finished the move beautifully.
