European clubs have quickly had to get used to the prospect of competition from the Chinese Super League for top players.
Already Liverpool lost out to Jiangsu Suning for Alex Teixeira while the likes of Jackson Martinez, Ramires, Demba Ba and Gervinho have swapped life in Europe for the Far East.
And more could be set to follow before the Transfer Window Closes on 26 February or in the summer according to reports.
In fact Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney could soon be on their way if Sven-Goran Eriksson’s prediction is correct.
Rooney is already a target for clubs in China and Eriksson is keen for the Manchester United star to join him in one of the fastest growing leagues in the world, saying: “Names like Lionel Messi, Ronaldo and Rooney, yes it will probably happen fairly soon that players of that calibre go to a big Chinese club.
“Who doesn’t want Rooney? But I strongly suspect he doesn’t want to leave Manchester United, at least not for the moment.”
Zlatan Ibrahimovic is another player Eriksson would welcome in China and with the Paris Saint-Germain striker set to become a free agent this summer it could happen.
John Terry is also being linked with a move as he is set to leave Chelsea on a free and he is not the only star from Stamford Bridge wanted in the Far East.
Loic Remy is tipped to move before the transfer Window Closes and fellow Blues striker Radamel Falcao could be targeted after failing to make an impact in the Premier League.
Emmanuel Adebayor, – currently on a short-term contract at Crystal Palace – Yaya Toure, Robin van Persie and Fernando Torres are all interesting Chinese sides and could
Toure’s agent has already hinted the midfielder could depart Manchester City this summer, Van Persie has reportedly failed to settle in Turkey and Torres is set to leave Atletico Madrid and return to AC Milan where his future is far from certain.
Veteran Everton defender Phil Jagielka is another player being lined up and although Roberto Martinez dismissed the chances of losing one of his most experienced players his stance could change in the summer.
