Liverpool will play Derby County in the 3rd round of the League Cup.
Recently, Liverpool went up against Burton Albion in the second round and won emphatically, scoring 5 goals against Nigel Clough’s Championship side. Nigel’s father, Brian Clough was manager of Derby County back in the 1960s and by 2008, Nigel himself had been given an opportunity to manage Derby also. Liverpool last faced Derby in a pair of Premier League victories around 2008, before they were relegated.
Currently, Nigel Pearson manages the Championship side and has some former Liverpool stars to boast of – goalkeeper Scott Carson and Academy winger Tom Ince (son of Paul Ince) are in his squad.
Pearson’s side qualified for the 3rd round via a penalty shootout against Carlisle which ended 14-13. Liverpool also once won a penalty shootout 14-13, when we faced Middlesbrough in a league cup game in 2014 (see .anfieldfamily.com/liverpool-14-13-middlesbrough/).
The rest of the 3rd round draw includes these fixtures:

I’m an Englishman (born and raised in Liverpool in the 80s). My whole family including my parents and grandparents were Liverpool fans so I was born into being a red.
I’ve seen Liverpool win the league (more than 25 years ago) and I’ve been 100% loyal and committed while supporting the Reds through all the good times AND the bad times since the 80s
