ESPN’s Adam Schefter has been reporting this weekend that the Denver Broncos and San Francisco 49ers are getting closer to a deal that would send quarterback Colin Kaepernick to the Mile High City.

Should Denver and Colin Kaepernick agree to a restructured contract, Broncos then expected to trade mid-round pick to SF to complete deal. — Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) April 2, 2016

Schefter has cautioned everyone that a deal isn’t exactly close yet.

Working out trade comp for Kaepenick was easy part. Tougher part is convincing Kaep to take less guaranteed $. It’s why trade not yet close.

There is one thing holding the deal up right now.

Further update: Colin Kaepernick Trade to Broncos being held up by $4.9 million. Here’s how:https://t.co/aFQucYha3D — Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) April 3, 2016

An offseason bonus is Kaepernick’s contract could force the Niners to trade him this week.

49ers offseason workout program starts Monday and Colin Kaepernick has $400,000 offseason workout bonus for 90% attendance. Show or no show?
