Cossetti blast and solid pitching anchor Saint Joseph's in tournament win

Andrew Cossetti delivered a two-run homer in the fourth inning while Mike Falco tossed four scoreless innings in relief to lead Saint Joseph's to a 2-1 victory over Saint Louis on Tuesday in the opening round of the Atlantic 10 Tournament.

The Billikens jumped ahead in the third with a Tyler Fogarty solo homer, but Cossetti answered for the Hawks in the next frame. Nate Thomas led the inning off with a walk before Cossetti launched a pitch to center field.

Noah Weber started for the Hawks, tossing four innings while surrendering one run on five hits. Ryan Devine pitched a flawless ninth to record his eighth save of the season. Saint Joseph's hurlers combined for eight strikeouts on the day and didn't issue a walk.

Brett Callahan and Jake Artz collected two hits each in the win. The Hawks will face VCU on Wednesday afternoon. The Rams won two-of-three regular-season contests between the two programs in late-April.

The winner advances to the semi-finals on Friday. The loser faces Saint Louis in an elimination game on Thursday.
