Today's Gossip: Latest On Bellerin, Hart, Rossi, Plus More

Manchester United are keeping tabs on Benfica left-back Alex Grimaldo while Arsenal are ready to tie down Hector Bellerin to a new deal, according to Monday’s newspapers.

Manchester United scouts were present at the Estadio da Luz on Sunday night to watch Benfica left-back Alex Grimaldo, according to the Daily Mail.

The 21-year-old would have certainly caught the eye after scoring a classy free-kick in the 4-0 win against Feirense.
The former Barcelona defender has a £51million release clause in his contract, but it is thought that the Portuguese would be willing to negotiate with any interest club, which includes Manchester United’s arch-rivals at the Etihad.

Scouts from Juventus, Valencia and Middlesbrough were also at the match, with the former said to be looking for a long-term successor to Patrice Evra.

Grimaldo only joined Benfica in January for a meagre £1.25million fee after he found first-team appearances hard to come by at Camp Nou.

Arsenal To Ward Off Bellerin Suitors
Arsenal are reportedly preparing a new five-year deal for rampaging full-back Hector Bellerin in a bid to end speculation about his future.

According to the Daily Mirror, the Spaniard’s representatives will open preliminary talks with the Gunners over the course of the international break, which will come as a blow to both Manchester City and Barcelona who have been strongly linked in recent weeks.
Barcelona, who have already heaped praise on Bellerin, were hoping to tempt the 21-year-old to come back to the club where he started his career, while Manchester City apparently made contact with Arsenal over the summer about a potential move.

Bellerin still has three years left on his current deal, but worried Arsenal officials are ready to act now to prevent him from having his head turned by other offers.

The report also mentions that Arsenal have opened talks with both Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez about signing new deals.
