Transfer Gist: Shola Ameobi Set To Leave Bolton Because Of This Unfortunate Reason

Super Eagles’ striker at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, Shola Ameobi is set to leave Bolton Wanderers this month, in spite of only arriving at the lower division side in the past summer according to BBC Football.

The report out of Queensland though reveals that Ameobi’s Exit from The Trotters is not on account of poor form, but the Kabba, Kogi State-born attacker is moving on because the Manchester-based club are cash strapped.

The 34-year-old Joined on a short-term deal in October and scored once, on his debut against Leeds, in eight outings, but will now hunt around for a new base in the winter market since Bolton cannot offer him a new deal in their current turbulent financial situation.

The Championship’s bottom side are £172.9m in debt and avoided an immediate winding-up order on Monday, hence the need for an exit by Ameobi, who spent time at Turkish side Gaziantep BB and Crystal Palace before he joined Bolton.
