Former Nigeria captain Nwankwo Kanu has said the current leadership of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) led by Amaju Pinnick has failed the country.
Kanu’s bashing of the NFF comes after the country failed for the second straight time to qualify for the Afcon.
"What is happening with Nigerian football is that the top management is not what it is supposed to be so what is below is being affected," Nigeria football ambassador Kanu told BBC.
He said the NFF have to change their style of leadership if Nigeria were to achieve success again.
"When the head is not right, even your body won't be right", said the former Arsenal and Ajax Amsterdam star.
The criticism of the NFF leadership comes after several prominent stakeholders demanded the resignation of president Amaju Pinnick as well as his entire executive committee after this unprecedented Failure.
Pinnick has insisted he will not quit.
On Tuesday, the NFF executives will meet with the country’s sports minister for a consultative meeting in Abuja on account of the country’s failure to qualify for AFCON 2017 in Gabon.
