The Npfl Curtain Raiser ended in a sheer delight for Plateau United as they recorded the first win of the new Nigeria league season after they defeated visiting Niger Tornadoes 2-1 at the Rwang Pam Stadium in Jos on Saturday.
Plateau took the lead in the 17th minute through Charles Okafor.
However, Tornadoes pegged the hosts through Kunle Issa after 64 minutes. Plateau then regained their lead to carry the day when Ibeh Johnson delivered three minutes from time.
Plateau United before now last played in the Nigeria Premier League in the 2010-2011 season. 5 good years away from top flight football. The win will definitely be a big boost for them.
Nine other matches will be played on Sunday in continuation of the 20-team championship.
