Carabao Cup Recap: Ndidi Stars As Reds Crash Out; Spurs, Hammers Advance

Liverpool crashed out of the Carabao Cup at the first hurdle as goals from Shinji Okazaki and Islam Slimani put Leicester City through 2-0 on Tuesday.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain was in the Liverpool starting XI, as was Philippe Coutrinho, who danced through Leicester defenders and forced a diving save from Foxes keeper Ben Hamer.
Liverpool's Andrew Robertson then saw his Cross run agonisingly through the six-yard box, but it was the hosts who took control in the second half.

Okazaki put Leicester ahead in the 65th Minute following a corner when Vicente Iborra headed the ball down to the Japan international ,and his shot took a deflection off Robertson before finding the net.
Slimani ran through defenders, keeping his balance to deliver a blast from distance in the 78th minute to seal the victory.

Also on Tuesday, Dele Alli scored the only goal in the 65th minute to guide Tottenham to a 1-0 win over Barnsley,

Kieran Trippier did well to bring the ball down on the wing and cross to Alli, who could not miss in the centre of the box.
Championship club Bristol City knocked off Premier League side Stoke City 2-0 at Ashton Gate. An individual effort from Famara Diedhiou set the hosts on their way, with the Senegalese converting a 50th-minute chance from the centre of the penalty area to put Bristol up 1-0.

And 10 minutes later, Matty Taylor would double Bristol's lead, stroking a left-footed shot from the centre of the box to seal the win and send Mark Hughes' team packing.
Crystal Palace are still looking for a first Premier League point but defeated Huddersfield Town 1-0 to advance.

Bakary Sako headed in Andros Townsend's cross in the 13th minute for the club's first goal since the previous round, a win over Ipswich on Aug. 22.
The only game of the night to go to penalties saw Leeds outlast Burnley 5-3 after the game ended 2-2 after 120 minutes.

The game was still goalless until Hadi Sacko opened the scoring for Leeds in the 80th minute, but Chris Wood pulled the hosts level with an 89th-minute penalty.

There was more late drama as Pablo Hernandez converted a stoppage-time penalty to restore Leeds' advantage, only for Robert Brady to net a dramatic equaliser at the death.
After extra time the match was decided in a shootout, where Leeds keeper Andy Lonergan saved James Tarkowski's effort.

Bournemouth needed extra time before beating Brighton 1-0, thanks to Josh King's strike in the 99th minute.

Mawson and Ayew scored in the second half help Swansea City to defeat Reading 2-0 at the Madejski Stadium.

The breakthrough came in the 52nd minute as Renato Sanches' cross fell to Mawson to turn in, and Ayew sealed it on the counter-attack seven minutes from time.

West Ham secured a 3-0 win at home over Bolton with goals from Angelo Ogbonna, Diafra Sakho and Arthur Masuaku.
Ogbanna needed just four minutes to head in cross from Marko Arnautovic, who also set up Sakho for the Hammers' second after the half-hour mark, before Masuaku added a late third.

Wolves are through to the last 16 after escaping Bristol Rovers 1-0 in extra time, Bright Enobakhare netting the only goal for the home side on 98 minutes before Tom Lockyer saw a late red card for the visitors.

Mario Vrancic scored twice as Norwich City won away to Brentford 3-1, while a Patrick Bamford brace saw Middlebrough through at Aston Villa, who had Tommy Elphick sent off in the second half.
