Malian Star Gets Contract At Italian Club Terminated After 25 Days

Former Liverpool and Juventus midfielder Mohamed Sissoko has had his contract terminated by Ternana less than a month after he joined the ClubThe former FA Cup winner has departed the struggling Italian second-division outfit, seemingly due to a refusal to be named as a substitute

The midfielder recently signed for Serie B outfit Ternana, making the struggling Italian Club the tenth destination of his dwindling career to date.

However, just 25 days after he penned a deal which would see him administer his trade for his new club until the end of the season, the contract had already been prematurely terminated.

The former Liverpool and Valencia ace had reportedly refused to sit on the bench in Sunday's grudge match against Trapani. Ternana won the tie 2-1, proving that Sissoko's services were indeed surplus to requirement.

Ternana's sporting director Danilo Pagni claimed that 'Momo' was "intolerant to the technical choices" implemented by club manager Fabio Liverani.

Sissoko embarrassingly only made one appearance for Ternana, a cameo in which he only featured for just over half an hour. Sissoko's petulance during his short time in Italy may well dampen any big European club's interest in gaining his travelled signature.

The glamour of Anfield may well feel like a distant memory for a man who once shared the same dressing room with the likes of Steven Gerrard and Xabi Alonso underneath Rafa Benitez' command.
