EFL Cup : United, Reds March On; Gunners Crash Out (Plus Semi-Final Draws)

Southampton outclassed a much-changed Arsenal side to seal a comfortable victory at the Emirates Stadium and secure an EFL Cup semifinal berth for the first time in 29 years.

Arsene Wenger made 10 changes to his team from Sunday's win over Bournemouth, but those who came into the starting lineup were found wanting as Saints were good value for their 2-0 win.
The visitors, showing eight changes of their own from the weekend, eased through as Jordy Clasie's first goal for the club was followed up by a smart Ryan Bertrand finish as Claude Puel's men wrapped up the win before half-time.

Saints have now won three of their last five meetings with the Gunners, who finish their usual troublesome month of November with just a single victory to their name.

Manchester United advanced to the semifinals of the EFL Cup with a 4-1 defeat of West Ham at Old Trafford on Wednesday.
A pair of braces from Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Anthony Martial set the hosts on their way to the final four of the competition, despite a gallant effort from the London side.

And it was the Swede who opened the scoring shortly after the whistle -- the former PSG man receiving a a deft back-heel from Henrikh Mkhitaryan before dinking his shot past a charging Adrian in the West Ham goal.

The goal was Ibrahimovic's fourth over his last four matches for United in all competitions.

Ashley Fletcher equalised on 35 minutes to give the Hammers hope heading into half-time. But it wasn't long after the break before United worked their second of the match.

And it was Martial who did the honours after 48 minutes -- the Frenchman stroking in Mkhitaryan's pulled-back cross after Antonio Valencia had played him into space with a back-heel of his own.

And the United No. 11 collected his second just 14 minutes later, easily slotting home with his right foot after a Valencia cross found him all alone at the far post.

Ibra then rounded off his own double in second-half stoppage time with an easy tap-in after a fine move.

EFL Cup Semi-Finals Draw.
Manchester United v Hull.
Southampton v Liverpool.
