BREAKING: Mitchell Trubisky will not play, Chase Daniel will start

It’s official, Chicago Bears quarterback Mitchell Trubisky will not be playing in today’s Thanksgiving day game in Detroit. Veteran Chase Daniel will get the start. Embed from Getty Images Adam Schefter reported yesterday that it was likely Daniel would get the start after Trubisky woke up sore and with limited movement in his shoulder, but it has now been confirmed that Trubisky won’t dress for today’s game. While the injury may have Detroit fans excited about the Lions’ chances today, the betting community doesn’t seem to share their optimism. The line opened up at Chicago -4 when it looked like Trubisky was going to start. The line is now Chicago -3 with Chase Daniel in as the starter. Betting community doesn't think much of Mitchell Trubisky. Line opened CHI -4 when it looked like he would play. Now CHI -3 with Chase Daniel starting. — Adam Levitan (@adamlevitan) November 22, 2018 While the Bears offense may not be as effective without Trubisky, it’s most likely the matchup between the Bears’ defense and the Lions’ offensive line that will determine the outcome of today’s game. Bonus Content No Detroit Lions in first batch of Pro Bowl voting The NFL released the results from the first round of Pro Bowl voting today and no player from the Detroit Lions was listed in the top 10 for their respective positions. Embed from Getty Images No Matthew Stafford, who hasn’t been voted to the Pro Bowl since his one and only trip in 2014. No Darius Slay, who was the only Lion to be voted to last year’s Pro Bowl. No Matt Prater or Ezekiel Ansah, who were Pro Bowlers back in 2016 and 2015 respectively. Since Calvin Johnson, who made the Pro Bowl in six consecutive seasons between 2010 and 2015, retired the Detroit Lions have struggled to get players invited to the NFL’s yearly all-star game. The fan vote has always been a popularity contest and when you start out the season 1-3 and sit in fourth place of the NFC North 12 weeks into the season it can be difficult to get your fan base energized let alone generate national buzz for your players. Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network provided the update on voting today. Saints quarterback Drew Brees has received the most votes so far and is followed in the top five by Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, Rams running back Todd Gurley, Pittsburgh Steelers running back James Conner, and New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley.
