The Detroit Lions held their Introductory Press Conference for new head coach Matt Patricia on Wednesday at the practice facility in Allen Park. This will hopefully mark the beginning of a new direction for the Lions that will ultimately result in a championship, something fans in Detroit have never gotten to see their football team win.

Both general manager Bob Quinn and president Rob Wood spoke at the press conference, during which Patricia spoke lovingly of his family, thanked the Patriots for all that he learned there, and gave fans a glimpse of the kind of team he intends the Lions to be.

Patricia had been the defensive coordinator for the New England Patriots since 2012, before which he was an assistant offensive lines coach as well as heading up the linebackers and safeties. He was an assistant at Amherst before spending three seasons as a GA at Syracuse. He then joined the Patriots as a low-level offensive assistant coach.
Of course, the Lions have won only one playoff game since 1957, so the head coaching position can seem daunting for some. For Patricia, he’s looking forward to the challenge.
“Whatever anybody’s done in the past, that really doesn’t have anything to do with me,” Patricia said. “I just got to try to go out and make sure I can do my best going forward and put a plan in place to hopefully help us achieve success and make sure that we’re working in the right direction that Bob and myself have set forward based on our vision.
So I’m not worried about what everybody else has done, I’m just trying to make sure I do everything in my power to do it right.”

The day has finally arrived as Matt Patricia will finally be officially introduced as the next head coach of the Detroit Lions. The introductory press conference is scheduled for 3 pm ET and can be seen live on DetroitLions.com and on Periscope.
Patricia, of course, comes to the Lions after serving as the defensive coordinator for the Super Bowl runner-up New England Patriots.
In case you have been in a bubble, you probably know Patricia because of the bushy beard he has sported while calling the Patriots defense.
