One trade Detroit Lions GM Bob Quinn MUST consider NOW

Tags: bryant lions tate

Not only did the Detroit Lions get destroyed by the New Orleans Saints in Week 6, but they also had a couple of injuries along the way, including one to their leading receiver, Golden Tate.

Last Monday, Ian Rapoport broke the news that Tate is expected to likely to miss a few weeks after injuring his shoulder against the Saints.

Now the question is, what will the Lions do to replace Tate while he is getting healthy? Would a healthy Kenny Golladay be enough to fill the shoes of the speedy veteran? Probably not, which means Lions general manager Bob Quinn could be forced to get creative.

One potential solution would be if the Lions were to make a deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers for the disgruntled, yet ultra-talented receiver, Martavis Bryant.

News recently surfaced that Bryant is unhappy in Pittsburgh and he has requested a trade. According to reports, he told Steelers coaches that he is not happy about his lack of involvement in the offense.

On Sunday, Bryant went a step further by calling out Juju Smith-Schuster on his Instagram account.

Of course for this trade to go down, both sides would have to be interested in making a deal (Duh) and with Bryant’s off-the-field issues, the Lions may not even consider him as a potential replacement for Tate. Note: Bryant returned this season after a 1-year drug suspension.

On the other hand, if Quinn and the Lions are interested in obtaining Bryant, he would likely have to give up a draft pick or two to get the deal done.

While chatting with some of my Detroit Sports Nation colleagues, the consensus seems to be that giving up any more than a 4th or 5th round pick for Bryant would be a mistake. Despite his potential to be a No. 1 or No. 2 receiver in the league, Bryant has yet to prove that he can be a consistent difference maker on the field.

That being said, Quinn would not be doing his job if he did not at least pick up the phone and call the Steelers to see what they would want in return for Bryant.

Nation, the ball is now in your court. Is this a trade you would like for the Lions to consider?
