Saturday at 4 p.m. was the deadline for NFL teams to trim their rosters down to 53 and that’s exactly what the Detroit Lions accomplished.
Here is what the 53-man roster looks like following the Lions final cuts.
Running Backs (5)
Wide Receivers (5)
Tight Ends (3)
Offensive Line (9)
Defensive Line (9)
Long Snapper (1)
Some notable players who did not make the final cut include WR Jace Billingsley, S Alex Carter, QB Brad Kaaya, T Storm Norton, DE Pat O’Connor, TE Cole Wick, and probably the most surprising of them all, LB Antwione Williams.
Of course, Taylor Decker, the Lions starting left tackle from a year ago is not on the roster due to injury. Also left off the roster is the Lions punter, Sam Martin, who is expected to miss the start of the season because of injury. Kasey Redfern will take the punting duties until Martin returns.
