Russo will likely fill the role of defenseman Ryan Sproul, who went down Saturday night with a sprained knee.
A fourth round pick in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, Russo could make his NHL debut Tuesday night against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
So far, he has played in 57 games for the Griffins this season. He has recorded seven goals and 24 assists for 31 points with a plus/minus of +14.
If Ryan Sproul to miss time, opportunity for Red Wings to get a look at Robbie Russo, another right-shot D. 31 points this season with GR.
