Pistons reportedly looking to trade Aron Baynes and Boban Marjanovic

The NBA trade deadline is February 23rd and the Pistons are reportedly looking to dump two of their three centers.

Baynes will most likely become an unrestricted free agent this summer, and Marjanovic will have two years left on his deal after the season ends.

It’s pretty clear why the Pistons are moving Baynes. They won’t be able to re-sign him and getting something for him brings way more value than just letting him walk. The Pistons may be able to sell high on Marjanovic because of his size. He’s not the most talented player by any means, but it’s impossible to game plan for 7-foot-4, and a team in contention looking for a rim protecting big man off the bench may be willing to part ways with a low first round pick in order to acquire just that.

What would the Pistons be looking for in return?

If the Pistons aren’t interested in picks, they would definitely be looking to add some more depth and scoring off the bench, as they are fourth worst in the league in bench points per game.

Or if you want to get into fun conspiracy theories like we’re about to, you could say this is all part of the master plan to stack up just short of infinity picks and offer a package that centers around Andre Drummond and our soul to acquire Demarcus Cousins from the Sacramento Kings.

That’s definitely it. You heard it here first. The Detroit Cousins has a nice ring to it, doesn’t it?
