2018 That Round 14 Bye

Tags: byes keepers ugly
I have just been reviewing my team in respect of the Byes. Although it is early days, barring changes forced by injuries I’m comfortable with the core of my team in terms of keepers at the moment.

The round 14 bye however is ugly. Fortunately a round 14 bye is better than the same scenario for round 12 but with my current team I only field 8 keepers in round 14. If you play leagues you can tank round 14 but I play overall so rather not do that.

It means apart from a replacement for an injury an actual upgrade of a rookie or mid pricer cannot be to a round 14 bye player. Means pre byes I basically have limited access to players like Dusty, Ablett, Crouch bros, Sloane, Neale, Jelwood, Kennedy, Parker, Hanners if they come good early in the season.

There is always one ugly round every year but anyone else dealing with the round 14 bogey this year? Are you planning a little for it or just ignoring it for now? Do you stick with group of keepers you are happy to start with and trade around the byes or do you drop a player you want for a player that creates a better structure (and then beat your head against the keyboard when your original player goes big and the new guy is meh). For now I am sticking with the original game plan.
