AGL Power Rankings, Week 19: Jazrawi’s Chopping Their Way Through

1 Have not lost a game in 2017 having Scored 21 and conceding 5 and with an in-form striker like Mabkhout that number does not surprise us. Inching closer to their first title in 6 years. LAST WEEK: 1 HIGH: 1 | LOW: 4 Latest result: Won against Emirates 5-0 Next AGL match: Away at Al Ahli (4/3) 2 It’s starting to feel like the past misfortunes have left them behind. A win over Hatta is nothing to brag about, mind you, but given that their city rivals just slipped makes it ever satisfying. LAST WEEK: 3 HIGH: 1 | LOW: 6 Latest result: Won at Hatta 0-3 Next AGL match: Home against Al Jazira (4/3) 3 Nasser Al Shamrani scored two from the spot. That’s a plus and his first couple since his highly publicised move to Al Ain. LAST WEEK: 5 HIGH: 1 | LOW: 5 Latest result: Won at Al Shabab 3-1 Next AGL match: Home against Hatta (4/3) 4 Doesn’t help if they drop home points against teams that they should be winning against – looked out of their unusual place. Perhaps the yellow of Kalba distracted them? Bad joke. LAST WEEK: 2 HIGH: 1 | LOW: 10 Latest result: Draw against Ittihad Kalba 1-1 Next AGL match: Away at Baniyas (3/3) 5 A much-needed victory to stop a four-game winless skid. Al Wahda still haven’t quite found their core identity since that drubbing at the hands of Al Jazira, and had to wait till Tagliabue and Dzsudzsák were back from serving suspensions. LAST WEEK: 8 HIGH: 3 | LOW: 9 Latest result: Won against Sharjah 5-1 Next AGL match: Away at Al Nasr (3/3) 6 Imagine how Dibba could have benefitted if Fettouhi only scored from the penalty spot? Can’t expect much if the team is not able to capitalise when gifted opportunities LAST WEEK: 6 HIGH: 6 | LOW: 13 Latest result: Draw against Al Nasr 0-0 Next AGL match: Home against Al Shabab (4/3) 7 Surprised that they lost given who their opponents were along with their decent run in the past four games. But then again should we be surprised? LAST WEEK: 4 HIGH: 5 | LOW: 13 Latest result: Lost against Baniyas 0-1 Next AGL match: Away at Emirates (3/3) 8 Another drab performance from a team whose morale seems to be shaken. Petrescu has his work cut out for him. LAST WEEK: 7 HIGH: 2 | LOW: 10 Latest result: Draw at Dibba Al Fujairah 0-0 Next AGL match: Home against Sharjah (3/3) 9 It took some effort from Maiga to equalise right away. Probably did enough to shake Al Wasl to their core which worked. LAST WEEK: 10 HIGH: 7 | LOW: 13 Latest result: Draw at Al Wasl 1-1 Next AGL match: Home against Al Wahda (4/3) 10 Did not have an answer against an attacking force which when in tangent can destroy an team across the Middle East. Yes, we understand that it was a bold statement yet we are sticking to it. LAST WEEK: 9 HIGH: 7 | LOW: 14 Latest result: Lost against Al Ahli 0-3 Next AGL match: Away at Al Ain (4/3) 11 Nothing exciting here. LAST WEEK: 11 HIGH: 6 | LOW: 12 Latest result: Lost at Al Wahda 1-5 Next AGL match: Away at Al Nasr (3/3) 12 That was a particularly cruel way to lose a game, given that things were looking bright for the ‘so-called’ giant killers. The real issue, though, is that this team still has no tactical identity. LAST WEEK: 12 HIGH: 12 | LOW: 14 Latest result: Lost at Al Jazira 0-5 Next AGL match: Home against Al Dhafra (3/3) 13 Surprised that they won given their recent track record. There is still hope for survival if luck plays its part. LAST WEEK: 13 HIGH: 9 | LOW: 14 Latest result: Won at Al Dhafra 1-0 Next AGL match: Home against Al Wasl (3/3) 14 That “Last four results” says it all about Al Shabab, who are still struggling to figure out a way to make that defensive line stronger. Would like to get into Dukic’s state of mind if given the opportunity? LAST WEEK: 14 HIGH: 1 | LOW: 14 Latest result: Lost against Al Ain 1-3 Next AGL match: Away at Dibba Al Fujairah (4/3)
