Although the Dodgers lost Game 4, there certainly were some great performances at the plate to warrant several 2017 Topps Now cards. Featured here are two online exclusive cards made available today that focus on the homers by Justin Turner and Cody Bellinger. The first card shown shows Cody Bellinger. Go here to check it out and order. It says the following on the reverse:
Cody Bellinger accounted for the Los Angeles Dodgers only run off Cubs pitcher Jake Arrieta when he hit a line-drive home run to right field with one out in the third inning. With his third inning home run, Bellinger became the youngest hitter to homer in a League Championship Series since Miguel Cabrera in 2003.
Justin Turner has been godlike during these playoffs. Heck, he's been so good it's appropriate to say that he's been as good as Babe Ruth. In fact, his numbers have reached Ruthian levels. Following his 2-for-2 evening that included two walks, he now sits atop the All-Time Major League leaderboard in OBP, with a minimum of 100 at-bats. That puts him above both Lou Gehrig and Babe Ruth on the all-time list.
- 1. Justin Turner - .495
- 2. Lou Gehrig - .483
- 3. Babe Ruth - .470
Featured above and below is a new Topps Now card that makes note of Turner's third homer of the postseason last night. Go here to check it out and order. Per Ken Gurnick and Carrie Muskat at MLB.com:
"We still like the way we went about it tonight," said Turner, whose club wasted eight walks and a hit batter. "We had good at-bats, made their guys work and throw a lot of pitches, just didn't get the result we wanted."Below is what it says on the reverse:
Justin Turner continued his Postseason dominance at the plate as he launched another moon-shot home run in Game 4 of the NLCS. Turner is batting .385 in the NLCS with 2 home runs and six RBI bringing his total to 23 Postseason RBI. He now sits in third place on the all-time franchise list behind Duke Snider and Ron Cey for most Postseason RBI.
