Manchester United vs Tottenham Hotspurs Preview

Jose Mourinho has declared that Nemanja Matic, Antonio Valencia and Alexis Sanchez are all back in first team training and both Jesse Lingard and Ander Herrera could feature with the latter on the bench for the defeat against Brighton and Lingard Fully Fit after an extended break following the World Cup. Diogo Dalot is also back in training but is still not fully fit for the Monday night match and neither Marcos Rojo nor Sergio Romero will be available either. Tottenham are missing three players with Victor Wanyama and Juan Foyth both back in training but not fully fit and Son Heung-Min still on international duty with South Korea at the Asian Games.
United will probably make changes in light of the poor performance at the Amex Stadium and in truth it was the defensive errors that cost United as well as the lack of steel in the heart of the midfield. Therefore, Mourinho may adopt a back three formation to match Spurs' formation recently and one the Portugese manager frequently used in pre-season. Martial was taken off after being booked and for Fellaini's more direct approach to get back into the game but will probably start ahead of Sanchez if the Chilean is not fully fit and may make a cameo off the bench. This is such a vital game for both teams as United need to come back from a horror show in Brighton and Tottenham need to prove that the lack of transfers does not dwindle their chances as title contestants. United win the games that they have to and turn on the heat when they most need to, hoepfully we are not looking at the third season syndrome from Mourinho and instead a small blip in what could still be a successful season.
Predicted Lineup: De Gea, Young, Bailly, Smalling, Lindelof, Shaw, Matic, Fred, Pogba(c), Martial, Lukaku
