Week 7 Preview: Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Tennessee Titans

After a dominant win over the Cleveland Browns, the Pittsburgh Steelers now have a tough matchup against the Tennessee Titans. This upcoming game will be a battle between two undefeated teams.

While the Steelers have been on a dominant run, a roadblock emerged with the loss of Devin Bush. The Steelers will be tested against the Titans, who are a run-heavy team. Titans running back Derrick Henry currently leads the league in rushing with 588 yards and has scored six touchdowns.

This has been a flawless season so far for the Titans. Can they keep it up against the Steelers though? The Titans have been riding on the backs of Henry and quarterback Ryan Tannehill.

Steelers Players to Watch

JuJu Smith-Schuster had a down game against the Browns last week, as he caught two passes for six yards. Smith-Schuster will need to improve his play against a tough opponent if Pittsburgh has a shot at beating Tennessee.

Ben Roethlisberger had a decent game against the Browns, as he threw for 162 yards and one touchdown. Roethlisberger will need to improve on those numbers, since the Titans have a much tougher defense than the Browns. However, these stats could’ve been due to the Steelers running the ball more times than they threw.

Robert Spillane is now filling in for the injured Devin Bush and he’ll have a tough task ahead of him. Spillane will have to primarily deal with rushing leader Henry, which is not an easy task for anyone. However, Spillane made some good tackles after he came in for the injured Bush.

Titans Players to Watch

The biggest name on the Titans is Henry — and rightfully so. However, Henry will face his toughest test against the Steelers. The Pittsburgh defense is currently ranked as second in run defense, as they’ve only allowed 331 yards. But, as previously mentioned, Henry leads the league in rushing with 588 yards. So, Henry is extremely capable of being too much to handle for the Steelers.

There’s been an emerging star on the Titans, and his name is Ryan Tannehill.

Tannehill has had a great start to the season, as he’s in the Top 10 in passing touchdowns. He will be a tough challenge for a Steelers secondary, which has been very good this year. Keep in mind, Pittsburgh is rank eight in interceptions and second in passing yards allowed.

Also, Pittsburgh will be without Mike Hilton this weekend against Tennessee.

The Titans are in a similar predicament as the Steelers, as they also lost a key piece of their team due to injury. For the rest of the season, the Titans will be without left tackle Taylor Lewan, who is a huge piece to their offensive line. Ty Sambrailo will replace him and his first test is against an extremely tough Steelers pass rush. Additionally, the Steelers lead the league in sacks with 24. Sambrailo will need to play at the highest level if the Titans have a shot at winning.

Final Thoughts on Steelers vs. Titans

Both teams are extremely talented, but they are also dealing with key injuries. It will mainly come down to which injury hurts which team more. However, each team has the talent to make up for it.
