Riverhounds re-sign captain Kerr

Have no fear, the captain is here.

Kevin Kerr, the captain of the Pittsburgh Riverhounds throughout the 2016 and 2017 seasons, has re-signed with the club.

His deal is for one year, with a club option for 2019.

“We’re excited to have Kevin back in the fold,” said head coach Bob Lilley. “He’s consistently been one of the better playmakers and passers in our league over the past four to five years bringing experience, leadership and a work ethic that I think is important for our younger players to look up to.”

The upcoming 2018 season will mark six seasons that Kerr has been with the Riverhounds. In his career, Kerr has made 132 appearances for the Riverhounds.

The 132 appearances are third on the Riverhounds’ all-time appearance list behind David Flavius (183) and Gary DePalma (147).

His career total for goals scored in a Riverhounds jersey is a total of 22, which is sixth on the all-time list behind Flavius (56), Thiago Martins (30), Corey Hertzog (27), Rob Vincent (25), Phil Karn (23) and José Angulo (23).

In 2017, he featured in all 32 regular-season games, totaling 2,813 minutes. He started 31 games and was only subbed off in one game all season.

Kerr, an attacking midfielder by trade, scored three goals in 2017, and provided five assists.

The Riverhounds now have five players on their roster, heading into the 2018 season.

Kerr is joined by Chevaughn Walsh, Kay Banjo, Tobi Adewole and Romeo Parkes.
