U.S. Navy’s Blue Angels squadron arrive at EAA AirVenture 2017

The Blue Angels touch down Wednesday at the Experimental Aircraft Association’s AirVenture fly-in convention in Oshkosh. (July 26, 2017) Nate Beck/USA TODAY NETWORK-Wisconsin OSHKOSH – Slicing through a thick fog, the U.S. Navy Blue Angels touched down Wednesday at the Experimental Aircraft Association’s AirVenture fly-in convention. The five-jet team buzzed a crowd of onlookers at EAA as the “The Star-Spangled Banner” played from loudspeakers on the ground, marking the start of the afternoon airshow. The squadron came to Oshkosh from an airshow in Idaho last week, stopping for gas in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, on the way. After the engines cooled, Commander Ryan Bernacchi spoke with news media, including USA TODAY NETWORK-Wisconsin, about what it means for the crew to stop in Oshkosh, the biggest airshow in the world.
