Transformative time for Stewart Airport, general manager says

STEWART AIRPORT – This is the beginning of putting Stewart International Airport on the worldwide map, its manager, Ed Harrison said. Norwegian Air has started its European flights. Allegiant announced two new routes to Florida. The New York Air Show kicks off its third year this coming weekend. Saturday is expected to be the busiest day ever at the Newburgh area facility with the air show and three Norwegian Air transatlantic flights coming in at the same time as the air show is going on with its main attraction, the Navy Blue Angels. Over 20,000 people are expected to attend the show each day, Saturday and Sunday, June 1 and 2. Harrison said between the air show and the additional air service, this is only the beginning. “We are going to look back at this moment and say this is an incredible turning point for Stewart Airport and anybody who took advantage of it at this moment is really going to reap the benefits for the next decade or two,” he said. Harrison and the Port Authority team are talking with other airlines about additional flights at Stewart, including on airlines currently providing service.
