  • 01 March 2017: Gujarati playwright and humorist Taarak Mehta, best known for his columns which were adapted for TV as the popular sitcom Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, died on Wednesday in Ahmedabad at the age of 88 after a prolonged illness.
  • 02 March 2017: India Test captain Virat Kohli will be awarded with the Polly Umrigar Award at the BCCI award ceremony in Bangalore on March 8, 2017. Kohli becomes the first Indian cricketer to get it on the third occasion. All-rounder R Ashwin will also become the first Indian to receive the Dilip Sardesai award twice.

  • 05 March 2017: Hinduism will become the world’s third largest religion by 2050 while India will overtake Indonesia as the country with the largest Muslim population, according to a new study. The Hindu population worldwide will rise by 34%, from a little over 1 billion to nearly 1.4 billion by 2050, the Pew Research Center’s study on “The Future of World Regions” projected.
  • 06 March 2017: American Sam Querrey used a strong serve to beat Rafael Nadal 6-3, 7-6 (3) on Saturday night in the Mexican Open final. Sam Querrey had 19 aces to win his ninth career title. He’s the first American champion in the history of the event.
