New York’s Best Friends: Guest Post by Dog Lover Leela Kapoor

The busy city people call New York has over 1.1 million cats and dogs. In New York, over 600,000 dogs have a residence or the street to call home. About 5,000 dogs in New York are strays and are spread out around the city. Many donors are giving to charities that are helping these strays like the Animal Care Centers of NYC and the Best Friends Animal Society. 

According to the American Kennel Club, the most popular breed of dogs that has come to them is the French bulldog. These tiny chubby monsters have climbed their way up to the most popular breed of dog in the United States. After the French bulldog, the next most popular breeds are the Labrador retriever and the golden retriever. These are also the top three dog breeds in New York City. Another note is that smaller dogs are really very popular in the city. The reasons for this are that they are easier to live with, they cost less money, and you can take them around with you. 

Dogs everywhere eat, sleep, and poop. But a lot of them don’t get the right products that suit them. Research has shown that the best dry food brand is Canidae and the best wet food brand is Blue Buffalo, although, the most affordable option is Whole Earth Farms.
