Man City Back On Winning Ways, Liverpool Held

Man City Back On Winning Ways, Liverpool Held

Manchester City didn’t take long to get themselves back on Winning Ways as Pep Guardiola’s men picked up all three points on Monday after beating Burnley 2-1.

Despite having to play most of the game with only 10 men as Fernandinho got himself sent off on 32 minutes, City still earned all three points with goals from Gael Clichy and Sergio Aguero, both scored after the break.

Burnley did make things rather interesting as they pulled one back through Ben Mee, but it was not enough to turn things around at Etihad.

Meanwhile, Liverpool’s ambition to cut their gap of Chelsea at the top of Premier League suffered a slight set back as they were held into a 2-2 draw by struggling Sunderland side.

Jurgen Klopp’s men looked to be heading for another three points when Daniel Sturridge puts them ahead after just 19 minutes of play.

However, The Black Cats were not keen on giving up easily as they got back on level terms through Jermaine Defoe’s spot kick not long after Liverpool went ahead.

In the second half, Klopp’s boys were up again, this time from Sadio Mane’s effort, but the same player eventually gave away a second penalty which was once again converted by Defoe to make it 2-2.

Premier League Monday Full Results:

Middlesbrough 0-0 Leicester City; Manchester City 2-1 Burnley; West Bromwich 3-1 Hull City; Sunderland 2-1 Liverpool; Everton 3-0 Southampton; West Ham United 0-2 Manchester United.
