Chelsea coach wants Arsenal’s defensive star at Stamford Bridge

Speaking to the Dutch media, Chelsea‘s interim coach Guus Hiddink has insisted that he wants to see Arsenal‘s Petr Cech back at Stamford Bridge.

The manager—in an interview with Fox Sports in the Netherlands—has discussed his new role as an advisor at the Club, and outlined how he’d like to see former club legends brought back to the club in off-field roles.

Specifically, Hiddink has insisted that Montreal Impact attacker Didier Drogba and Arsenal stopper Cech are two figures he’d love to see back in West London in the future.

“They have had a great impact here,” Hiddink began. “Once they are really finished with their playing careers, they can be of great value to the club, as an assistant or scout.”

The club do already have some of their former players on the staff, with Eddie Newton—who represented the Pensioners for nine years between 1990 and 1999 after coming through the ranks—currently one of two assistant managers at the club.

Drogba is one of the Blues’ all-time greats, having played a pivotal role in their Champions League triumph of 2012.

Cech holds similarly iconic status in West London, having joined from Stade Rennais in 2004.

He would enjoy 11 years as a player at Stamford Bridge, winning four Premier League titles, four FA Cups, the Champions League and the Europa League, before leaving for Arsenal last summer.
