Paris Saint-Germain forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic has suggested that he could choose to secure a return to AC Milan this summer.
The Swedish International sees his current deal with the Ligue 1 champions expire at the end of the season, and in turn that has sparked significant speculation over his next move.
With reported offers from the Premier League, around Europe, MLS and China, he isn’t short of options after enjoying one of the best seasons of his career to date despite the fact that he turns 35 later this year.
“When I left Milan, it wasn’t my choice. I never wanted to leave,” Ibra told La Gazzetta dello Sport. “I love Milan and in my view it’s the biggest Club I ever played for. My exit from Milan is the past and this is the future, we’ll see what happens.
“Could my future also be my past? You never know, but we’ll see in a little while and then everyone will know.”
“Soon you’ll know everything and all this speculation will be over. Is Saturday my last game with PSG? That depends on others, not just me.”
The Swedish international has scored 45 goals in 48 appearances in all competitions so far this season, as he looks to secure more silverware to the collection that he has built during his time in the French capital.
However, with a contract renewal looking unlikely, it will mean that the former Milan, Barcelona, Inter and Juventus star will have to look elsewhere, and his latest comments have given the biggest indication yet on where he would prefer to move.
Naturally, there is also an angle that he was discussing his future with the Italian media and would have discussed the chances of a return to Serie A rather than any other potential option.
Nevertheless, given that financial reasons dictated his exit from the San Siro in 2012, he would arguably welcome the possibility of a return to the Rossoneri at a time when the club would desperately appreciate his influence.
