It looks like Liverpool are more than ready to finish their season strong. On a day where Joe Allen of all people notched a goal for the Reds, Roberto Firmino continued his own scoring ways and delivered a victory at Anfield.
In the first half, Liverpool received their first goal courtesy of Joe “the Welsh Xavi” Allen, who delivered the strike past Heurelho Gomes to take the lead.
The backs were a wall for the entire afternoon and protected admirably from 14 shots.
It was a mistake from Ikechi Anya that allowed Sheyi Ojo to deflect the ball into the feet of Firmino, who bobbed and weaved his way towards goal unchallenged before drilling a low strike towards goal. What should be an easy save for Gomes simply bobbled up and over his arm and bounced slowly into the bottom-left corner for a Liverpool goal.
With the win, Liverpool maintained their eight place position on the table. They will play Chelsea on Wednesday before going up against West Brom on Championship Sunday.
