Incoming Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola is reportedly hoping to convince Barcelona forward Luis Suarez to return to England next season.
According to The Express, the Spanish tactician will seek the help of his brother, Pere, who represents the Uruguayan international too.
Guardiola is hoping that the connection could prove to be useful in discussing the possibility of a second spell in the Premier League for Suarez, as he looks ahead to taking charge at the Etihad Stadium next season.
The Express claim that Guardiola had even wanted Suarez to join him at Bayern Munich, but the former Liverpool star opted to join Barcelona instead in 2014.
However, despite the fact that he is contracted to the Catalan giants until 2019, Guardiola is quietly confident that he will be able to strike a deal for the 29-year-old and begin his rebuilding job in Manchester as he looks to stamp his mark on the squad left behind by Manuel Pellegrini.
Although he still has a job on his hands with Bayern this season, both at home and abroad, the latest speculation suggests that the 45-year-old is already considering Transfer targets for his next job.
Given that Suarez has scored 43 goals and provided 22 assists in 44 appearances in all competitions so far this season, it is no surprise that he will be of interest to City, who are expected to spend heavily in their to attempts to back Guardiola as much as possible.
Nevertheless, the club won’t be looking beyond this season, as they still have a real battle on their hands to secure Champions League football for next year.
City sit in fourth place with seven games remaining, but remain just three points above West Ham United, with rivals Manchester United a further point adrift.
In turn, Guardiola will be anxious about how they finish the campaign, as it ultimately could have a real impact on how they fare in the summer transfer market in their bid to become a dominant force in England and in Europe in the coming years under the former Barca boss.
