With on-going speculation suggesting that Chelsea will look to Juventus in the summer transfer market, the Turin giants are preparing to return fire.
According to Tuttosport, with Chelsea set for a rebuild under Antonio Conte this summer, the former Juve boss could target various players from his old club.
Leonardo Bonucci and Juan Cuadrado are the most prominent names to be paired with the west London giants, although both remain a key part of Massimiliano Allegri’s plans moving forward.
Backed by the financial power of Roman Abramovich though, it remains to be seen whether or not the Bianconeri are able to hold off their advances, although they could yet make their own demands when doing business with the Premier League outfit.
The report claims that Juve will rebuild with Willian and Eden Hazard, while long-time target Oscar also remains on their radar.
Nevertheless, their possible pursuit of Hazard will attract the most interest, with the Belgian international struggling to repeat his heroics from last season. The 25-year-old has managed just two goals and eight assists in 38 appearances in all competitions so far this year, failing to find the back of the net in 26 league outings.
In turn, Chelsea could consider their options in the summer in terms of whether or not to sell and reinvest the money with Conte at the helm and wanting to make his mark on the squad. However, it would seem like a risk given Hazard’s undeniable ability as he evidently hasn’t been able to show it this season.
All in all, it sets up an intriguing summer as we await an official announcement on Conte’s future, with FIGC President Carlo Tavecchio confirming earlier this month that the Italy boss would not be renewing his deal when it expires after Euro 2016, as reported by Football Italia.
That appears to leave Conte free to take the reins at Stamford Bridge to become Jose Mourinho’s long-term successor, and his first port of call could be a conversation with his former employers to see where they can do business.
