There is a gap of two points between the two sides heading into the contest.
This makes the encounter an incredibly high stakes game as if either team is victorious they are guaranteed to end the weekend top of the table.
Juventus have opened up a seven point game between third place side Roma and themselves and the title is looking like a two horse race.
Should visiting side Napoli manage to win at the Juventus Stadium then they will go five points clear at the top. Both sides are in impressive form and this promises to be a top class European fixture.
Juventus have been in absolutely flawless form as of late.
They have put together a run of six straight victories in which time they haven’t conceded a single goal. Some of the wins have seen the Old Lady turning on the attacking threat as well, with high scoring wins of 3-0 and and 4-0 against Inter and Chievo respectively.
The Old Lady have a lengthy list of absentees, including Giorgio Chiellini, Mario Mandzukic and Martin Caceres, although Allegri is not putting too much pressure on his side, telling Juventus.com :
“It’s not going to be decisive as far as the title race is concerned. We have a series of crucial games ahead of us and there are still 13 to play after tomorrow’s one. We’ll be in for an entertaining encounter, both from a tactical and technical perspective, and it’s important we adopt a controlled approach.”
Sami Khedira is listed as doubtful although there is an outside chance he could play a small part on Saturday night. It is likely that Juventus will opt for a four at the back 4-3-3 due to the absence of Chiellini.
Napoli head into their visit to Turin with a very impressive run of form granting them excellent momentum.
Although slightly less perfect than Juventus’ recent efforts, Napoli have been superb as of late, putting together impressive victories against Lazio, Empoli and Sampdoria.
They also benefit from a far fuller squad for selection, with only Alberto Grassi out for Saturday night’s contest.
Napoli will look towards the scoring prowess of Higuain to add to his already impressive tally of 24 goals so far this season.
The Napoli striker commented on his relationship with manager, according to ESPNfc:
“He focuses on highlighting my weaknesses. When we first met, he told me right away what he thought of me – both the good and the bad. After that I’ve been able to learn better from my mistakes.
Sarri has given me all this confidence. I appreciate his honesty and he knows good football.”
Juventus have been flawless as of late. However, if there is one team that can change that, it’s Napoli.
It will be interesting to see whether the expected change of formation necessitated by the absence of Chiellini will be a vulnerability that Higuain and co are able to exploit.
With so much at stake passions will be high and this could be a fiery Italian encounter.
If Juventus are able to extend their run of clean sheets and come away with this game with all three points then they will send a serious message to Napoli that their title challenge is far from over.
