Chelsea boss Antonio Conte hasn’t favoured using Michy Batshuayi so far this season, and he could be given a chance to recoup the £33m spent to sign him.
As noted by The Guardian, the Belgian international was snapped up by the Blues from Marseille in a £33m deal in the summer, but he has made just 16 appearances so far this season with limited minutes.
Further, the 23-year-old has played just 81 minutes of Premier League football, and so frustration is undoubtedly growing as Conte continues to start in-form Diego Costa, but has snubbed the chance to give Batshuayi a chance in his absence.
In his defence, he has still managed to score four goals in 16 games this season, but it hasn’t been enough to dismiss speculation over his future this month.
According to L’Equipe, Paris Saint-Germain are keen to take him back to France before the end of January, with Unai Emery looking to bolster his attacking options to provide competition for Edinson Cavani.
As seen below, the print version of the French publication has suggested that the French giants are ready to throw their hat in the ring with Batshuayi previously linked with a loan move to another Premier League club as Conte looks to shuffle his pack.
On one hand, the move would make sense as the Belgian forward needs to play regularly, and Conte seemingly has reservations about him.
However, having looked sharp and given his best in every chance he’s had to feature, it’s questionable as to what more the Italian tactician is looking for in a back-up option to Costa as he’ll have to replace him this month in order to avoid being left short.
Chelsea sit top of the Premier League table after 20 games with a five-point buffer over their nearest rivals, and they’ll hope to strengthen where possible in January in order to sustain their title push.
