Arsenal transfer news: Agent forced to address frustrated Gunners ace’s January plans

Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud will not be leaving the club in January despite a frustrating start to the season, claims the Frenchman’s agent.

It’s been a difficult few months for the 30-year-old, as after arriving back at Arsenal late following his participation at Euro 2016, he picked up an injury which further slowed down his return to full fitness.

In that time, Alexis Sanchez has established himself as the first-choice striker up front for Arsene Wenger, with impressive tallies of 13 goals and nine assists in 20 appearances in all competitions.

In turn, it’s natural that Giroud’s frustration would be growing as he is forced to settle for a bit-part role, but that doesn’t mean he’s considering leaving the Emirates Stadium.

With just 18 months on his contract remaining, the likes of AC Milan and Napoli are reportedly keen on signing him, according to Foot Mercato, but his agent has ruled out an exit.

“I’ve never been in contact with Italian clubs. Olivier is very happy at Arsenal,” Michael Manuello is quoted as saying in the same report.

“He’s going to finish his season here. Nothing is possible in January for Olivier. He has no intention of leaving this winter.”

The focus will therefore be on forcing his way back into Arsene Wenger’s plans for the starting line-up, and with Arsenal competing on various fronts this season, the French tactician will need to use his depth and in turn it’s more than likely that Giroud will get opportunities to play and impress.
