Happy Thanksgiving!!!!!

From Corn Nation to you! Thank you!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

We usually go to our neighbors house for too much alcohol and Thanksgiving dinner, but this year they aren’t having it as too many people in the household have to work. We will be staying home and having a nice quiet day to ourselves. There probably won’t be nearly as much alcohol, but such sacrifices are necessary sometimes.

We will be having a traditional Thanksgiving feast with turkey, stuffing, green bean casserole and the like. Mrs. CN even bought me a pecan pie, which I am sure to pronounce as “PECANNNNNN” to annoy my children.

It’s been a tradition on Thanksgiving that before we eat we say a prayer and then everyone goes around and says what they’re thankful for.

I’m thankful for having a group or writers gets along very well. I haven’t done as good a job as I would’ve liked this year, but the other people here at Corn Nation have done an excellent job this year. The County Countdown we did to get us through the offseason was well done and well received; the only problem will be coming up with something as a good follow-up this next year.

I am thankful for my wife and my children and that even includes the rotten son. If nothing else, he pays attention to college football and when he got home last night he informed me that he will be paid to watch college basketball in the near future.

I’m thankful that we have Scott Frost as our head coach. A year ago our program was in disarray. The players looked lost and it was obvious that our coach was on his way out.

Nebraska fans hoped that Frost would come home and he has.

Nebraska’s football program feeds its ego. We could spend a lot of time and have a lot of beers debating whether that is good or bad, but as long as that exists we might as well have a football team that we can be proud of.

None of us know what the future holds with these players or with this coaching staff or how successful they’ll be, but right now everything looks good.

Be sure to leave us a comment about what you’re eating today and your favorite Instant Pot recipe!

What Thanksgiving meant to Tom Landry - FootballScoop
“Thanksgiving Day to me is a time which I’m most grateful for all the abundance which is ours, something that I think that most of us so often take for granted. It’s a time which we can spend with our families and reflect back on the past year for all the things we should be most grateful for,” Landry says. “I think most of all it’s a time in which we should give thanks to God, for through His love and His grace, all these things have been made possible.”

Then There’s This

Yes, I banned Steve.

I did that. And no, it wasn’t because of the actions and responses in a single game thread. It was something that added up over time. You are not dogs. You can understand that things accumulate, and that punishment may be based on more than what you did in a single moment.

He had been warned, and in the game thread during the basketball game, I took his responses to me as taunting, much like Bo Pelini taunted Shawn Eichorst with the “go ahead and fire me” stuff after Thanksgiving a few years ago. I’d have fired Pelini’s ass right there and then. (Easy to say now, isn’t it?)

When we warn you, and when we ban you, you get a message that only you can see. I need you to take these things seriously if you expect to stick around.

Sorry for posting this as part of a Thanksgiving holiday post, but I felt I needed to explain.
