Nebraska Recruiting: Adrian Martinez Picks Huskers over Vols

Scott Frost with yet another win over Phil Fulmer

Phil Fulmer’s Volunteers once again fall short against a Scott-Frost led Nebraska offense as 4* dual-threat QB Adrian Martinez of Clovis West HS in Fresno, CA, picks Big Red for his high school destination.

Nebraska was late to his recruitment but took advantage of the chaos in Knoxville and offered Martinez December 3rd. Despite a late push by Tennessee to re-secure Martinez, in the end, Frost’s offense was the difference maker. (Probably doesn’t hurt that Frost flew across the country Tuesday night for an in-home visit before returning to UCF. That’s one hell of a “we really want you” pitch to a recruit.) From briefly looking over his Hudl film (below), seems his team also tended to run out of a shotgun formation, similar to Frost’s offenses at UCF. He will bolster an already talented QB room at Nebraska and is expected to sign early and enroll this spring, with a strong shot at starting next fall.

It’s worth noting that Martinez did not play this past season as he recovered from a torn labrum in his throwing arm, though this didn’t seem to hamper his recruitment, collecting 26 offers (according to 247) including Oklahoma and Ohio State.

Here’s his latest football HUDL film from his junior campaign:

Shades of T-Magic in there, but he can pass too!

He also plays basketball!

Welcome Adrian and Go Big Red!

With Adrian’s commitment, Nebraska moves to #54 nationally and #13 in the Big Ten!
