Penn State Throttles Nebraska 56-44

This was not fun.

Penn State smashed Nebraska football game tonight that was not much fun to watch and I’m sure was not that much fun to play in.

I’m not sure if you pay attention to the college baseball updates I do in spring, but at some point I give up out of frustration with Penn State baseball and stop reporting on them. I usually include one line item where there should be more.

Here you are expecting a game recap. Fine.

Penn State went up 7 – 0 on the third offensive play of the game when Saquon Barkley went 65 yards for the Nittany Lions first score of the day. It would not be their first score of the day, obviously, as they lead 42 – 10 at the half. In the end, Barkley had 224 all purpose yards and three touchdowns.

There was hope for a bit as the Huskers lead early. Nebraska picked up a turnover when the ball bounced off a Penn State player and Marquel Dismuke jumped on it to recover it for Nebraska. The Huskers could not score a touchdown, but got a Drew Brown field goal to make it 7-3.

The Husker defense held Penn State to a three-and-out on the ensuing possession, and then a shanked punt gave Nebraska the ball at the Penn State 35 yard line. The Huskers went to work, with completions to burgeoning star J.D. Spielman and Stanley Morgan. Devine Ozigbo mashed the ball in from one yard out and Nebraska lead for a brief moment in this horrible, horrible season.

Nebraska appeared to make up most its yardage against scrubs. The Huskers did not pick up a first down for six drives, until they finally drove 90 yards in the third quarter, scoring on a 24-yard touchdown run by Mikale Wilbon, making it 42-17.

It looked like fun for a bit.

Tanner Lee hooked up with DeMornay Pierson-El for a touchdown late in the third, but Penn State smashed the rally when they went on a ten play scoring drive.

Nebraska scored late with a touchdown run by Mikale Wilbon and a pass to tight end Jack Stoll and that made the score not look nearly as bad as it was.
