Jaguars will prepare as if LeSean McCoy is playing

When the Jacksonville Jaguars host the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, it’s very possible that the Bills won’t have arguably their best player. LeSean Mccoy left last week’s win over the Miami Dolphins being carted off due to an ankle injury. The status of McCoy hasn’t been clarified yet, other than him being classified as “day-to-day” and being listed as a game time decision for Sunday.

The Jaguars however, will prepare as if McCoy is going to play and be 100 percent on Sunday, as they should.

“We prepare like he is playing,” Jaguars head coach Doug Marrone said on Wednesday when asked how they would prepare for McCoy possibly not playing.

“He is a guy that can change field, can break tackles, take it to the house,” Marrone said about McCoy. “He is excellent coming out of the backfield receiving. He is a Pro Bowl running back. He has all the ingredients that make him very, very dangerous on the field.”

The Bills offense is nothing to write home about overall, though they’ve done a good job being steady and consistent in large part because of the play making ability of McCoy and the fact that Tyrod Taylor doesn’t turn the football over. Taylor doesn’t turn the ball over in large part because he can lean on a guy like McCoy to keep defenses honest.

If McCoy is out or severely limited on Sunday it will put more pressure on Taylor and likely force the Bills into more passing situations, which will play right into the Jaguars defense’s hands.
