The Jacksonville Jaguars have released veteran defensive back Davon House, according to multiple reports. The move does not come as a surprise, as House seemingly found himself as the fifth cornerback on the depth chart by season's end after having a successful starting season in 2015, his first year with the team after being signed to a four-year, $24.5 million deal in free agency.

The roster move saves the Jaguars $6 million in salary cap, which is something the team was not really hurting for, but will give them even more maneuverability in free agency in a few weeks when the new league year begins.

House started 15 games his first year with the Jaguars and appeared to be a good find in free agency for the Jaguars, but something happened between the end of the 2015 season and the beginning of the 2016 season and House found himself tumbled down the depth chart. The team picked Jalen Ramsey with the fifth overall pick in the NFL Draft and added Prince Amukamara on a prove it contract, but even prior to the season it was expected House would still be a factor on defense.

He wasn't, at all really, until injuries forced the Jaguars hand. House seemed frustrated towards the end of the year, pointing out he'd asked what the issue was and why he wasn't playing and got no answers. It's mutually beneficial for the team to move on and House to find another team to play for.
