Angels Walk Off in the 9th as Sox Lose 4 in a Row

The Sox left a dismal homestand and headed out west in hopes that a change in time zone would bring them better luck.  The Sox had David Price on the Mound and the Angels sent up Jered Weaver.  Price pitched exactly what the team needed from him when he put up 8 scoreless innings.  It would end up not being enough though as closer Ziegler gave up 2 runs to allow the Angels to walk off in the 9th.

The game was scoreless until the 3rd inning when the Sox scored their one and only run of the game.  Mookie Betts hit an RBI sac fly to score Leon from 3rd.  The Sox looked like they were primed for more, but then Pedroia ground into an inning ending double play.  Price had one run to play with and he did everything he could to keep his team out in front.  Price kept putting up scoreless inning after inning.  Price ended up pitching 8 innings and left the mound in line for the win.  Price’s pitching line for the game was 109 pitches, 8 IP, 7 H, 0 R, 1 BB and 6 Ks.

Closer Brad Ziegler took the mound in the 9th and didn’t have his best outing.  Ziegler gave up back to back singles to start it off.  Ziegler gave up another single with one out to load the bases.  The Angels ended up walking off when Nava hit into a groundout, but two runs scored when Hanley Ramirez made a throwing error.  Sox 1-2.

Red Sox 1  Angels 2  BOXSCORE

WP: Bedrosian (2-0)  LP: Ziegler (0-2)
