‘NPFL rest will aid performance’

Shooting Stars Sports club (3SC) head coach Fatai Amoo is positive his side will take the full advantage of their week-longweek Rest to perform better in the on-going top-flight.

The Oluyole Warriors have been inactive in the past week as their matchday 7 and 8 opponents, Wikki Tourists and champions Enugu Rangers, were involved in continental assignments.

However, the Ibadan landlords will return to league action on Sunday in a matchday 9 clash at top-flight newcomers Katsina United.

Amoo said the Katsina outfit's performance will serve as huge motivation for his side to excel in the encounter.

“I sincerely pray we take full advantage of the rest we had to perform well when we hit the pitch on the weekend against Katsina United.

“Of course, you cannot compare yourself with others who have been active with their matches.

“Although ours have been an active rest as we were involved in top friendly matches to keep the players in good shape.

“However, I can say comfortably that we enjoyed our rest to give our very best performance at Katsina United.

“The camp was down in mood after the loss at ABS FC but the win against Rivers United on home ground did a lot to ginger the entire team back to life.

“I just hope we will be able to recreate or even better the performance on the away trip to Katsina United.

“In fact, playing a team that is doing as well in the league as Katsina United will be a huge motivation to play well as well as challenge for the three points at stake.

“Katsina United should not under any circumstance scare us except if we allowe it ourselves,” said the former Sunshine Stars coach to supersport.com.

The Ibadan-based side are 17th on the 20-team top-flight on seven points, 10 behind league leaders Plateau United.
