Barcelona interested in signing sensational striker dubbed the new ‘Lewandowski’

There was once a time when every striker feared joining Barcelona as it was a guaranteed time on the bench with the likes of Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar doing exploits on the field.

With players like Ousmane Dembele turning down Barcelona (2016 summer transfer window), Paco Alcacer took the bold step and made the move, but got a whole lot of bench time than he had initially expected.

The exit of Neymar has created one more room in the Barcelona.

Alcacer left Barcelona this summer for Borussia Dortmund and it is apparent that his time at the club has come to end unless something drastically happens in Germany.

Barcelona are now looking at a backup for Luis Suarez who is now 31-years-old.

According to Genoese publication Il Secolo XIX, the Catalans are showing interest in striker, Krzysztof Piatek.

The 23-year-old Polish striker recently joined Seri A side, Genoa and has had a brilliant start to the new season.

He joined Genoa this summer for €4m after an impressive Ekstraklasa campaign with Cracovia in 2017/18.

He scored 21 goals in 36 league games for the Polish club, and has carried over his form to Italy. Piatek started the season with a four-goal haul in a Coppa Italia tie against Lecce and has also scored three goals in two Serie A games.

Piatek has done well for himself and has already earned comparisons to his fellow countryman, Robert Lewandowski.

A January approach from Barcelona is a possibility and he has been called up by the Poland during this international break.
