Ivan Rakitic was a subject of transfer interest this summer as both Bayern Munich and Paris Saint Germain wanted the Croatian.

Bayern were the first team to be rumored to be interested in signing Rakitic before Paris Saint Germain’s interest was soon revealed.

Interest from the French giants was strong, but in the end the midfielder opted to remain in Barcelona.

In an interview with Croatian publication, Novi List, Rakitic admitted that his wife,Raquel Mauri played a part in his decision to remain at Barcelona.

According to him, he discussed with her and decided to put his family first considering they were really happy and settled in Spain.

Rakitic said: “I saw everything that was written about it (my transfer).”

“Yes, big clubs showed interest in me.”

“I a very honest talk with my wife and concluded that I am happy and proud to be part of this great club and to be able to defend the colours. It’s not the moment to go.”

“After everything, it’s not easy to walk away from Barcelona.”

Rakitic and Raquel Mauri have been married since 2013. They met when he was playing in Sevilla and their love has blossomed since then.

Their union has been blessed with two daughters; Althea Rakitic and Adara Rakitic
