Ernesto Valverde is all set for his second fixture as he continues to march on in his second season in charge of the star-studded Barcelona team.
After winning a domestic double last season the fans are expecting an even better and convincing performance than the previous season.
Valverde is confident and isn’t concerned about his future while maintaining that the team would be pushing to win every match and make everyone happy.
“I have not spoken with anyone at the club (about a new contract),” he said in his Friday’s pre-match press conference.
“We’re in August. We know how things go, coaches live week to week. The season’s long.
“This isn’t something which I am concerned about. It’s absurd getting into things like this. The season just started. We know what’s coming: if things go well, later this will come up because everything has gone well.
“We will see. All I want now is to try to win all the games we play and make everyone happy.”
They were also questions about some players in the team and he spoke briefly about Sergi Roberto, Arthur Henrique and Arturo Vidal.
In describing Arthur, Valverde said the Brazilian reminded the team of Xavi Hernandez who wrote his name in the history books for the way he commanded the Barcelona midfield.
Valverde added: “Sergi Roberto played 90 minutes in the position he normally plays.”
”Arthur manages possession well and has a good shot from outside the area.”
“He reminds us of Xavi.”
And on Arturo Vidal, the Spaniard said: “He is an aggressive player both in defence and in attack and will easily get into scoring positions.“
