It rained goals in the 2016/17 season in leagues all across Europe. And in Europe’s top leagues strikers like Harry Kane, Aubameyang, Bas Bost and Messi were scoing goals for fun.
Messi won the Golden Shoe for being the highest goalscorer in Europe. He scored a total of 37 goals and finished with a points total of 74 (Spain’s UEFA coefficient is 2).

Although Edinson Cavani scored 35 times, Ligue 1’s factor of 1.5 meant that he ended the season with 52.5 points.
However, one player not on the list is Spanish youngster Kike Gomez. According to UEFA, he was the most prolific striker of the 2016/17 season and plays in Gibraltar.
