With Manchester United back in the Champions League, they are a lot more attractive to players seeking glory. But the Red Devils are set to miss out on Bayern Munich teenager Renato Sanches for a second time.

United were initially set to sign him from Benfica last summer. But the delay in the appointment of Jose Mourinho put a strain on transfer talks. And he eventually moved to Bayern Munich for 30 million pounds.

With his future unsettled at the Allianz Arena and Bayern open to listening to offers, United are back again. However, according to Diario Gol, the Portuguese fancies a move to the Camp Nou instead.

Barca’s new boss Ernesto Valverde needs new young talent to take charge of the midfield in the future. Sanches’ agent is super agent Jorge Mendes and has allegedly held talks with Barcelona.

Barcelona’s first two options remain Philippe Coutinho and Marco Verratti. But the Bayern youngster is seen as a much cheaper option to fix their midfield problems.

Diario Gol believes Mourinho has also asked Mendes about Sanches. But the player has told them his heart set on a switch to Catalonia.
