And latest reports now confirms Real Madrid have been Barcelona in a bidding war for Vinicius Junior.
The Brazilian is only 16-years-old but all who have watched him, confirm he is the jewel of Brazilian football.
He has already featured for Brazil in the South American Under 17 championship putting in incredible performances. But he is yet to feature for the first team of his Brazilian club Flamengo.
Real Madrid sign Vinicius Junior
Top Brazilian media GloboEsporte first reported the news. And Madrid-based paper, MARCA, have gotten confirmation from Real Madrid.
The deal would cost Real Madrid between €45 to 50 million in initial payments, despite his release clause being €30 million.
And it gets even crazier when to consider the fee could reach €61 million when other clauses are fulfilled.
Barcelona where also very interested in signing the youngster. And having beaten Real Madrid in a previous race for Neymar, they were extremely confident in sealing this deal.
Andre Cury was given the responsibilty of ensuring Vinicius Junior joined Barcelona. Cury was extremely crucial in convincing Neymar to join Barcelona and has connections with Traffic – the company looking after Vinicius Junior.
But Real Madrid fought even harder and their representatives were in Rio de Janeiro to seal the deal.
Howeverm he isn’t going to move to Spain until the 2018/19 season. He would spend next season developing in Brazil and could yet make his debut for the Flamengo first team.
